iCloud Sync Across Devices
How automatic iCloud sync works and what to do if it's not syncing.
Sound Safari automatically syncs your data across all your Apple devices using iCloud. There's nothing to turn on β it works out of the box.
Requirements:
- Both devices must be signed in to the same Apple ID
- Both devices must have Sound Safari installed
- iCloud must be enabled on your device (Settings > Apple ID > iCloud)
How it works:
- Changes sync automatically in the background
- New students, sessions, and notes appear on all devices within minutes
- Deleting data on one device removes it from all devices
If you see "iCloud sync unavailable":
This banner appears if you're not signed into iCloud. To fix it:
1. Open your iPhone's Settings app
2. Tap your name at the top (Apple ID)
3. Sign in to iCloud (or check that iCloud is enabled)
4. Reopen Sound Safari β the banner should disappear
What syncs:
- Student profiles and avatars
- Practice session history and scores
- SOAP notes and templates
- IEP goals and progress
- Homework assignments
- Custom word lists
What doesn't sync:
- Audio recordings (stored locally due to file size)
- In-progress session data
